Baskets

Baskets are divided into two main categories: Woven Floor and Solid Floor. Categories are then sub-divided further into those baskets with no partition, a single straight partition (P), a single T shaped partition (T), those with a central pilot area and two T partitions (TT), and the Tough Terrain baskets (S). To save weight smaller baskets are usually constructed from willow and cane while larger baskets are normally all cane for added strength. Aristocrat baskets are normally supplied with curved tops but are available with flat tops. All other baskets have flat tops. Tough cowhide protects the base of all baskets (leather optional), while the padded top edges are trimmed with suede, or optionally leather. The number of occupants shown is for illustrative purposes and will vary depending on their weight and size. As baskets are hand made individually all dimensions quoted are approximate and external as they incorporate an allowance for the rope handles. Consequently the internal width and length of a basket will be approximately 15 cm less.

Duo Airchair

Basketless ballooning in armchair comfort. The pilot, or pilot plus passenger, sit strapped into a padded seat. Any approved fully gimballed single Shadow or Stratus burner can be used. The seat assembly can be taken apart for ease of transportation. Any approved upright fuel cylinders can be used. The Duo Airchair may be suitable to carry passengers with certain disabilities.

Voyager 3

The ultimate in portable balloons for the travelling aeronaut. A 60,000 cubic foot envelope plus two 45 litre duplex fuel cylinders, a single burner and demountable walls will all pack into the base section of the special Voyager 3 basket to form a secure cube.

Woven floor baskets

As the name suggests, these baskets - including the floor - are of completely woven construction in cane and willow or all cane.

Solid floor baskets

All woven cane construction except for a sturdy floor built from marine plywood.
