Job  Vacancy: at 17th September 2018


Full-time 37.5hrs, Permanent, Monday to Friday 08.30 to 5pm (with an hour unpaid for lunch)
Some overtime may also be offered but this is not always guaranteed.

Role & Responsibilities: 
Working under our Export Manager and alongside other department colleagues, we are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Warehouse Operative to assist in day-to-day packing, loading, unloading and other freight and warehouse tasks. 
We are looking for someone who enjoys being busy and who works well as part of a team, is able to demonstrate good attention to detail, is self-motivated and disciplined with cheerful communication skills. This is a physically active job and despite having lifting equipment on site there will also be a need to be able to lift and move stock and boxes. Applicants must have good numeracy and literacy skills.
Requirements: Forklift driving licence and full driver’s licence required with previous warehouse experience also being a distinct advantage.

Day-to-day tasks include, but are not limited to:
Labelling goods as they are shipped in and out (goods are usually moved with a forklift-truck on pallets)
Unloading and loading delivery vehicles with various parcels and freight
Packing and preparing goods ready for international, national air and sea freight.
Assisting procurement colleagues with unloading, checking and counting stock
Another important part of the role will also be assisting Customers as they unload or load up alongside Sales colleagues, so very good customer service skills are essential too.




Full-time, SKILLED FABRICATION ENGINEER to join our expert team.

This Cameron Balloons engineering role would suit a skilled welder / fabricator - who has a keen eye for detail and meticulous working practices. 
The ‘hands-on’ engineering work; includes coded TIG welding, basic machining; milling and turning and other bench fabrication, including stainless-steel tube-bending as well as some polishing. 
The role involves working alongside mechanical and design engineers on a range of hot-air balloon hardware equipment and bespoke metal-work for installation projects. 
Reading, interpreting and implementing specific technical-drawing information, is also an essential part of the role. 
The successful individual would also need to enjoy and work efficiently to deadlines, in our hot-air balloon factory. Polite & cheerful manner is essential when assisting customers, as well as when working alongside colleagues.
Cameron Balloons will provide any specific balloon-related training and resources - to ensure familiarity and understanding of our unique aviation work.

Hours: Monday to Fridays 08.30am to 5pm (37.5hrs per week)
(This includes two 15minute paid tea-breaks & unpaid lunch-hours, 28days holiday p.a.).
Overtime: is fairly often available but not guaranteed.
Pay according to relevant experience, skills and qualifications.



Job  Vacancy: at 14th September 2018 


Cameron Balloons Ltd, Bedminster, Bristol are now looking for a full-time (37.5hr/week - Monday to Friday) Upholsterer to join our team. 

The team complete leather upholstery-work for hot-air balloon baskets as well as making and upholstering other associated pieces of balloon equipment.

 Job Specifications
This physically demanding basket section job involves both traditional and modern leather and fabric techniques.
The successful applicant will also have the ability to follow instructions and precise design specifications, within our fast-paced work environment as well as being cheerful and customer-oriented.

All applicants should have a strong eye for detail, be careful with measurements and be able to work precisely to ensure our high standards are consistently achieved.

Other important skills are to either have an excellent knowledge or experience of traditional and contemporary techniques or to welcome the learning of new skills with enthusiasm while training with us here in the balloon factory.

Extra notes: 
These work times also include a paid 15minute morning-break & a paid 15minute afternoon-break and an hour lunch-break unpaid. 

Holidays – more detail is available in the Cameron Balloons Staff Handbook*
2.0 days per month for those full-time staff (37.5hr per week).
Based on a 37.5 hour week ‘full-time’ this will give full time staff 24days normal holiday, this does not include bank holidays. Bank holidays add an extra 8 days leave to your allocation over the year (if you are ‘full time’) making your total 32days per annual leave year. There are an additional 3 non-contractual days annual leave that are in lieu of a sick scheme, these may be reduced in number to help meet the new pension requirements.
It should also be noted that Cameron Balloons chooses to give Bank Holidays to full time staff and pro-rata to part time staff if they normally work on the day that is a bank holiday (this is an extra entitlement and not, as often assumed an automatic right).

The new work experience placement application period for Cameron Balloons will open again in March 2019.

‘Most students, if they are up for a challenge get a lot out of our work environment, each student takes up a great deal of our work time and here, we are lucky to have a mix of academic and skilled practical work. Student days aren’t just filled with ‘shadowing’ the staff who are actually working - but instead the students get some proper ‘hands on’ work.’

In the meantime, we have designed some amazing resources for younger children who are interested in ballooning too.
These free resources are perfect for Beavers, Cubs, Rainbows, Brownies, Scouts and any Children’s Groups who are fascinated by Aviation - specifically lighter-than-air hot-air ballooning, supporting the study of flight, which is part of many school curriculums and club badge programmes.
